There's always something exciting about physicallly meeting people you hear about, read about, and see online. It is the season of the bloggers. Social media has democratized fashion, and even a 13-year old girl can became a great style icon. However, blogging is still a vastly unexplored form of content genenration. The rules and conventions are still very fluid. Even the government recently created laws governing the way samples and endorsements must be disclosed by bloggers. And of course, there is the issue of how the established fahsion world interacts with us bloggers. That's why Jennine of The Coveted and the Indepdenent Fashion Blogger's association (IFB) held a conference entitled IFB: Evolving Influence. Bloggers from around the nation converged at this event, which was held in NY during Fashion Week in a center close to Bryant Park - note: this was an amazing location since I was able to go from convention to show to convention to show quite easily. Attending the convention were bloggers who were extremely well read to those who were just starting. Some heavy hitters at the conference included Tavi Genson of Style Rookie, Bryanboy, Susie from Style Bubble, Scott of The Sartorialist, Garance of Garance Dore, and more! (I would like to think that yours truly of post.fashionism would fit into that category, but alas!) |
