This month is all about sleek, edgy silhouettes and eye-catching details. I'm going to cheat this month
because I can't pick just one favorite piece, I've been wearing them all! I pair the pencil skirt with the
bow blouse for work, slip into the lace-back dress or chain-necklace dress for dinner, and the
button-front jumpsuit and dolman-sleeve cardigan are perfect for a relaxed weekend.

THE NEXT GENERATION – DESIGNER JOYCE AZRIA GETS INTO THE FAMILY BUSINESS
"I feel like my whole life has been in preparation for this," says Joyce Azria of her role as BCBGeneration's creative director. And, in a way, it has. As the daughter of BCBG founder Max Azria,
the Paris-born, Los Angeles-raised Azria was born into a fashion empire–a fact she says is both a blessing and a curse. At the age of 10 she was already advising daddy on fabric choices, marketing moves and even putting in her two cents about BCBG's first Rodeo Drive boutique. "I remember my father asked me what I thought of the location," she says "I had the biggest mouth and I said, 'I really think the Wilshire window is going to get us a lot of PR." By the time she was 21, she had already
served as the design director for BCBGMAXAZRIA Swim and launched herown high-end womenswear line, JOYANN. Launched in 2008, BCBGeneration was created to cater to style–conscious young women who are just beginning to discover themselves through clothing–a sentiment that Azria, now 28,
relates to deeply. As part of that mission, Azria tried to repair what she thought was a common impulse in fashion to knock women, by presenting clothes that inspired and flattered them. This fall marks her third collection for the brand, and it demonstrates a distinct evolution, featuring an army of whites, neutrals, and pops of color.

BCBGeneration style doesn't stop with the wardrobe. We're always looking for the best of everything!
When I want to splurge, my favorite place to get my hair done in Los Angeles is Andy LeCompte Salon in West Hollywood.
Andy was already one of L.A.'s most sought-after hairstylists when he opened the salon with his friend and fellow hairstylist Leanne Citrone in 2008. The loft-style salon is beautifully furnished with custom decor and even has original artworks by Andy Warhol, Robert Rauschenberg and Marilyn Minter hanging on the walls. Plus, my favorite hairstylists work there!
As soon as I walk through the doors, I start to relax. The atmosphere is so welcoming and the staff is so friendly that I look forward to every appointment. I get my color done by Vanessa Spaeth, and my hair cut and styled by Scott Cunha. It always ends up being such a relaxing, fun and inspiring experience. I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else!

P.S. It's worth it! My color lasts twice as long as any of my girlfriends, and my cut grows out amazingly well.

"I am planning to spend the holidays with my family on Fisher Island in Miami. Let's just say that, by the end of my trip, I may feel inspired to design golf and tennis apparel for the missy market and a collection of bedazzled flip-flops. It's also my dad's birthday on New Year's, so it's always a big family reunion."
What will you wear?
"I will most likely wear my BCBGeneration one-shoulder minidress in gold lame."
What gift are you hoping to get this yet?
"I don't need anything, but if anyone's taking notes I want…a camera, a MacBook, Chanel booties, new makeup, Brian Atwood over-the-knee suede boots, a new house, a navy blue vintage Porsche – you know, nothing fancy."

| THE IWMF COURAGE IN JOURNALISM AWARDS |

The International Women's Media Foundation's 2009 Courage in Journalism Awards was one of the most inspirational events I have ever attended. If you're not familiar with IWMF, their mission as a global network is to strengthen the role of women in news media worldwide. Each year, IWMF honors brave, women journalists who have shown exceptional valor by covering news in many parts of the world. This year presented by Angie Harmon, the Courage in Journalism Awards highlights the importance of freedom of the press.
Hearing about women reporters working with the struggles of harassment, imprisonment, and even near-death injuries for the sake of honest journalism brought tears to my eyes. These women are true inspirations – I was so grateful to be able to spend a night in their presence.

On September 10, 2009, I made my way over to Lord & Taylor for Fashion's Night Out, an event organized by Vogue, NYC & Company, the City of New York and CFDA. Fashion's Night Out was a one-night exclusive event created to support retailers and get people excited about shopping again in America's fashion capital, New York City.
I was ready for a great night, but had no idea what I was in for until I stepped onto the 2nd floor of Lord & Taylor. The crowd was massive! I brought over 400 tote bags and T-shirts specifically for the event and we ran out of all of them before the night even ended! By far, the most rewarding part of the evening was getting to meet and chat with all the shoppers that showed up.
This past season has been quite a journey for me, both creatively and professionally. Getting to interact with all of you on a personal level was incredibly inspirational. It's one thing to be designing in the office—it's another to actually meet the beautiful women who wear the designs.
I hope you all enjoyed the night as much as I did! Right now I'm gearing up for the Spring 2010 collection and I can't wait to show you what's in store.

Singer Keri Hilson, who released her debut album In a Perfect World earlier this year, was spotted front row at the Spring 2010 BCBGMAXAZRIA Runway show wearing an outfit from the Fall 2009 BCBGeneration collection.
We've been huge fans of Keri since we heard "Knock You Down"—we know this girl's on her way to many more #1 hits! I love that she paired our tonal gray sweater and skirt with a statement necklace: it's so fashion-forward but classic at the same time.

Last week I attended the Who What Wear party at the Sunset Towers and had the best time ever! I was there to celebrate the release of Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr's new book Who What Wear: Celebrity and Runway Style for Real Life. Katherine and Hillary are inspirations to young women everywhere.
The dinner was so chic and the after-party was nuts! Samantha Ronson DJ'ed for the night and was amazing (as usual).
One of the highlights of the night was seeing Lauren Conrad wear one of my favorite dresses from the Fall 2009 BCBGeneration collection. It warms my heart to know that the collection has gotten off to such a great start. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
